Such great fun to paint three of my favorite characters, making them into a Gothic family of sorts. This painting is a visual pun, with the stars center stage, each borrowing identities from other realms. I love painting rugs ... this one is particularly gorgeous, and its diagonal edges balance the triangle of heads. I felt much like the novelist whose characters seem to take over the plot... these three glamorpusses seemed very much alive to me, constantly dictating the direction of the painting.
