This painting is an early study of the action as a wave diminishes to small frothy ruffles on the sand. I studied videos on wave motion and form, and practiced on scraps of paper, then moved to the 300-lb. watercolor paper, which has a wonderful surface for acrylics. I particularly like the contrasting complementary colors of cool blues and warm golds, with bright white edges on the waves. I sold this painting two weeks after it was finished. |
