| A couple of years ago, a summer thunderstorm roared up the east coast, creating spectacular rainbows from Florida to Maine. Cameras were clicking everywhere. A friend of mine in New York City sent me a photo of the view from his apartment. I loved the diagonals created by the shadows over Central Park, and the bright gold cast of the skyline. The angled lines of the foreground buildings and the deep rich greens of the trees created the impression of great height and made me feel like I was flying over the Park. The tiny buildings of the skyline were most challenging to paint — at times, requiring a magnifying glass. It took almost a year to complete this painting, and it is now owned by a man who lives in New York City. |
