THE COMPETITORS: Stanley and DeeJay

Stanley and I used to trail ride together years ago when she was just a teenager. Through the years, she has progressed to high-level dressage and is now riding DeeJay, a handsome Dijavan Oldenburg horse. They are pictured here at a dressage competition as they are about to enter the ring for their test. Stanley is elegantly turned out in summer whites, and DeeJay wears an elaborate embroidered head band. His glossy coat took many glazes to bring out the coppery glow, and Stanley’s blouse has eight coats of white to get the effect of bright sunlight.
