| This handsome horse belongs to a young rider from Pennsylvania. I have been experimenting with dramatic colors for the underpainting, in this case, a rich Ultramarine Blue. The cool blue adds drama and contrast to the warm gold and rust of the horse’s coat. I am partial to diagonals, and this composition divides the canvas dramatically. The fancy bridle with its elaborate bit adds interest and brings the focus right up to the horse’s eye. |
