My sister Anne and her husband Tom are the proud parents of the world’s handsomest Golden Retriever named Jack. Jack is
a classic of the breed, a gentle amiable fellow with a ready smile, intelligent, obedient, and always ready for a new adventure. Last year, their Christmas card pictured Jack trotting down the beach in Harwich Port. I did a cute pastel drawing, but when I tried a new brand of fixative, the entire paper buckled into huge blister-like bumps. I decided that I needed a new pose for Jack. Anne sent the perfect picture of him sitting patiently on the boardwalk. The palette of soft blues, yellows and pale buffs is so Cape Cod, and perfect to convey Jack’s sweet personality.
