This is the largest painting I have done. I was a bit intimidated by this oversized blank canvas, but once I started it, I got carried away with rhythmic strokes creating ruffles and streams of frothy waves. The technique is quite loose, but it still conveys a realistic image of a rushing wave. The rolling action of the ocean is typical of Nauset Beach on Cape Cod, especially after a storm, but the thunderous collision of rushing water and monumental rocks is very Maine. |
