Shortly after I took up painting and did a few small studies, I decided to attempt something more challenging. I found an image of a beautiful old wooden boat resting on a still lake. The colorful reflections were exciting — I couldn’t resist giving it a try! Straight edges on the boat’s slats become fractured curves in the water. And the weight of the dark shadow areas exaggerates the white higlights and painted colors on the boat. |
